Once upon a time in a Kingdom right here in North Carolina, the sun was just beginnning to clear the early morning mist from the battlefield. Excitement filled the crisp air, for on this day the Barony of Windmaster's Hill had issued a challenge to the Barony of Sacred Stone for the territory of Elchenburg and the right to fly their own battle standard from the fortified castle there, as they were very jealous about not having one their own. Feathers flew, fire reigned and claws raked tirelessly through the day, as the Phoenix of the Sacred Stone and the Winged Cat of Windmaster's Hill did battle so fiercely that some of the Kittyhawk's fur has never grown back! When the down finally settled, Sacred Stone emerged victorious. 

Throughout the day, merchants hawked their wares while artists proved their skills and shared their knowledge with others. Archers and Fencers proved their might, and the artisans of both Baronies awed each other with their employments. When the day was done, the Baronies parted in friendship, as is only proper amongst Royal Cousins in our fair Atlantia! 

Memories and dreams were forged on that battlefield, as well as traditions that are cherished to this day. It was indeed a glorious moment in history. It was so glorious, that Sacred Stone decided to do it all over again--and again, and again...now it's just habit, and clearly an event that the entire kingdom, as well as travellers from afar, find irresistable!

Charity fundraising for Breast Cancer Research has been a constant since the first War of theWings. Every year Mistress Morwenna has created a quilt to be raffled (see Morwenna's Quilts). There is also a Torchlight Tourney, as well as as auction of miscellaneous items. Through the years, various activities have sponsored a 'pink' theme in honor of the cause and to remember those that we have lost to breast cancer.
