The biggest change this year will be in how the Static Display War Point is determined. There are two ways to accumulate points for your chosen Barony, as an Artist or as a Patron.
Artisans: Enter a finished item (within the last 3 years) for a designated category. Documentation Required. You may enter up to three different categories, with one entry in each. Artisans are requested to stay with their entries to meet with Patrons from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday.
Patrons: members of Arts Orders (Baronial, Kingdom or Society) meet with the artisans, offer support and encourage them in their work and suggest additional references and resources for the execution and/or research in their fields. Patrons must wear Regalia for each order of which they are members, bring at least 20 tokens and at least 20 comment cards. (Each Patron can earn up to 3 points, if they belong to up to 3 arts orders.) Patrons may also participate as Artisans.
All Artisans and Patrons must register before the meetings. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for artisans to talk, learn and be inspired by one another.
Determination of War Point: Most accumulated points by Artisans and Patrons.
Youth A&S
Youth are invited to enter one item in an Open Display. They will receive written comments, and a token to thank them for their participation. Documentation is required.
Ages 0-9: one or two sentences; Ages 10-14:, 3-5 sentences; Ages 15-17: 1-2 paragraphs.
Documentation should address the following questions:
- What is this?
- In Period (1000-1600), who would have made this? (what country, what kind trade or skill, etc.)
- Do you have a picture of one? or a description from the Middle Ages?
- What is this made of/how did you make it?
Determination of War Point: Highest number of participating youth.
Period Encampment Competition
Score 1-6 points for the following.
- Cover - Criteria to consider would be fiber content, engineering design, colors, decorations (if any)
- Furniture - Criteria include design, materials, construction techniques and methods, style and period.
- Accessories - Again, design, materials, construction methods, period(s) represented would all be considered.
- Food - Content, recipes, presentation can all be considered.
- Recreational Activities - Games, work projects, music, story telling, leisure or vocational activities all reveal social or economic class and time period of participants.
- Written description of the above - Help out the judges and tell them why they should award maximum points to the owners/creators of this particular encampment.
- Period primary references - If you provide period references: articles, paintings, photographs of relics or academic recreations, the judges will be at your mercy.
- Use of Wings and/or War theme.
Determination of War Point: Barony with most total judging points.
Heraldic Pageantry - Deputy: Herrin Gisela vom Kreuzbachi
War Point to be determined by impressing the Special Judges. Criteria at Heraldic Procession
Scroll Blanks Challenge - Deputy: Lady Gwerfyl verch Aneirin, CP (Known as Aneira)
To support Their Royal Majesties in their goal of having a personalized scroll to present to every gentle that they recognize in Court, we are adding a Scroll Blank Challenge this year. Scribal Artists are encouraged to enter Illuminated Scroll Blanks, with or without calligraphy, all should be suitable for passing on to TRMs, and will be passed on. The Barony with the most accumulated points wins this War point based on 1 point for Illumination, 1 point for Calligraphy, 1 point for documentation. Artisans may enter multiple scrolls. All scrolls from this activity will be given to Their Majesties at the end of the day. (Pre-printed promissories are welcome and will be passed on to Their Majesties, but will not be awarded points for tabulating the War Point.)
Determination of War Point: highest accumulated points.
