Welcome to the SCA at War of the Wings II!
Welcome to the SCA and the Great War of the Wings II. It's wonderful that you have decided to join us for a great time in the medieval ages. War of the Wings is a great event. The whole weekend is filled with all kinds of activities. My name is Lady Mari of Varekai and I will be running Newcomer's Point. We have a full day of activities for newcomers on Saturday to help you break the ice, make some new friends here in the SCA. Feel free to e-mail me at pernika2003@yahoo.com if you have any questions. - 9:00 am - Newcomers' Class- Why is everyone dressed funny?? An introduction to the SCA and why we do the things we do.
- 10:00am - Opening procession - come see all the Pageantry!
- 11:00am - Newcomer's Tour - take a guided tour into the strange new world of the SCA
- 12:00pm - Basic Court Etiquette - What's with the dude with the pointy hat and why is everyone bowing?
- 1:00 - 4:00 pm - Scavenger hunt
- 4:30pm - Announcement of Winner of Scavenger Hunt at Newcomers Point
- 5:00pm - Newcomers Point Closes
- 9:00pm till whenever -- Newcomer's Roaming Party!!!! Come drink and be merry with us!
- 12:00pm - Basic Court Etiquette - What's with the dude with the pointy hat and why is everyone bowing?
The way the scavenger hunt works is you will receive a sheet of paper with a list of different types of awards and orders that are easily identifiable, for example; a white scarf or a golden dolphin. You must walk around and get signatures from different people for each item. You receive a point for each signature; you have a three hour time limit. If more than one person gets all possible points, who ever gets it turned in first is declared the winner. This is a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people.
Loaner Garb is available for you, at Newcomer's Point.
Newcomer's Party -- everyone is invited to come. We will meet at 9:00pm at the newcomer's tent, socialize for a while, and then off to invade parties. So bring a mug and put your party hat on. We're going Roaming!!
